A Trip to Tivoli
Today's excursion was exceptionally special because it was the first time we traveled outside of Rome. With our hotel and CIEE study center classes resting in the heart of the city, hustle and bustle has been our way of life since arrival. The thought of sightseeng, mountains, gardens, and waterfalls filled us with anticipation as we loaded our tour bus.
The trip to Tivoli was about an hour long through mountainous roads filled with olive trees and colorful architecture.
Our group adorned flowing flowery dresses, draping scarves, cargo shorts and straw hats, as we trekked across the pebbled stoned road to Villa D'Este. This site is one of Italy's most remarkle illustrations of Renassaince culture. Our tour guides shared historical tales such Ippolito, the ten year old archbishop of Milan. Every storyline was brought to life through the images painted on the interior frescos. We winded through the Giardini Delle Meraviglie, which means wonder gardens, and ended our tour to the sound of an organist performing and group photos by the waterfalls.
