Plaza de Toros
Welcome to Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas!
For our first activity in Madrid, our Global Navigators explored Las Ventas. With its inaugural corrido de toros in 1931, Las Ventas is not only one of the most iconic landmarks in Madrid but is recognized all over Europe. Because there has been almost a century of history in Las Ventas, our Global Navigators had quite a bit to learn. Not only did we explore the history of corridos de toros in Madrid, we learned about the traditional dress of toreros, and how the sport has grown to be more inclusive. Even though Las Ventas is most known for its corridos, the space is used for concerts and other events throughout the year. What a neat way to start building our appreciation for Spanish culture and history.
