Coucou à tous,

Program Leader Roxy reporting to you from rue du Sentier here in Paris at the beginning of our last (last ?!) week here in France. It's been amazing to see how students' comfort with and ease speaking in French has grown over the month - and very fun to hear them plotting all of the sights to see and experiences to have in their last handful of days here. Something else they can now check off the bucket list is traisping around, and under, a medieval French village; this past weekend we all hopped on the train to visit Provins, a UNESCO World Heritage site about an hour east of here. It's famous for its sousterrains, about three kilometers of tunnels through chalk deposits that were originally dug for building materials in the middle ages and variously used for wine storage, a hospital, and country fairs throughout the following 500 years. Students were thrilled to see graffiti dating from the 1500s carved into the walls ! We also visited a medieval tower with stairwells deliberately made narrow enough to keep armored invaders out, as well as a church nearby in which Joan of Arc took mass before the English... well, got a hold of her.

Et maintenant, 118 heures nous restent à Paris !
