A Kayak Adventure
One thing that should come to mind when thinking about Maine: our beautiful coastlines. We spent half of the day out on Saco River, which opens up to the Atlantic Ocean. For many students, this was their first experience paddling in a kayak. We spent a few hours paddling around, working against the current at times, and exploring the waters. The students marveled at the beauty of the area. We even spotted a few seals (or sea dogs, as the students now know they are nicknamed). The students took to the sport of kayaking quickly, learning how to properly paddle and also how to create a raft of kayaks, each holding onto another's kayak or paddles.
After returning from the excursion the students returned to work on their group projects and also spend some time soaking up the sun, swimming at the beach, and walking through the warm sand.
