Glen Keen Farm & Lunch in Galway
Our last day in Westport and on the West Coast of Ireland was no less jam-packed than the other 2 days. After a quick breakfast and a fond farewell to the comfy beds in our hotel, the group hopped on the bus and began our journey home. Before arriving back in Dublin we had a couple of fun surprises in store for the day though! First up on the agenda was a visit to Glen Keen Farm. Glen Keen is located in County Mayo and is one of the larger mountain sheep farms. While here we had the pleasure of meeting some of the sheep and sheepdogs that helped to keep things running and get up close and personal with what daily farm life looks like.
After some delicious scones and a cup of tea to help warm us up, the group continued its journey onto Galway. Galway has long been known as a musical hub in Ireland; it attracts some of the best singers and musicians and even made an appearance on Ed Sheeran's most recent album. Our group to dip into that scene for lunch with students finding some more traditional Irish food, street performers, and more shopping centres than you can count.
We loaded up the bus one final time before making the trip home. Quite the exciting excursion for our students and an excellent way to spend a few days: bonding, exploring, and most importantly learning more about their host country!
