En la comunidad
It's hard to believe that we have only been in Pisac for only 4 days! Classes officially started on Tuesday, as well as our community conversations and cultural activities. The students are adpating well to the community here by meeting locals and learning more about Peruvian culture. On Tuesday, both Spanish classes went to interview a guide at the Tourism Office. Students were avid to learn what makes Pisac so special and more about the upcoming festivities and Incan traditions.
Afterwards, we were led on a tour of the community by our Housing Coodinator, Andrea. She helped to get us oriented by taking us to important locations thoughout town. The views of the Andean mountians from the outskirts of town were impressive!
Yesterday, our Spanish classes divided for their Community Conversation. Level 3 had practiced food vocabulary and making polite requests in class (including a fun restaurant role-play!). They were rewarded with the opportunity to go to a local resturant and order some traditional food as a pre-lunch snack. They had to ask questions to the waitresses to learn about these new dishes. We enjoyed guacamole with yucca chips as well as tequeños, a fired cheese-filled pastry. ¡Qué rico!
