Day trip to Tibidabo Amusement Park and Sagrat Cor Basilica
This past weekend, CIEE Barcelona students took a day trip to Tibidabo Amusement Park, one of the oldest in the world. The park is a mix of vintage and modern rides, including the iconic Avió, a plane ride from 1928 that “flies” above the mountain using a simple yet ingenious mechanism. Students also rode on the Giradabo Ferris wheel and experienced breathtaking vistas of the city and the Mediterranean Sea beyond.
After the lively day at the amusement park, we made our way to the nearby Sagrat Cor Church. This stunning basilica, standing majestically at the summit of Tibidabo Mountain, offered a serene contrast to the thrills of the amusement park. Climbing to the upper terraces of the church, we were rewarded with more spectacular views of Barcelona.
Our visit to Tibidabo Amusement Park and Sagrat Cor Church was a day of contrasts and complementary experiences. The combination of exhilarating rides and serene moments of reflection provided the students with a unique perspective on the diverse attractions that Barcelona has to offer.
