Croagh Patrick: Ireland's Camino
Our Global Navigators were incredibly busy during their excursion to Western Ireland. Venturing out of the hotel in Westport we made our way Croagh Patrick (pronounced Crog) to take in the magnificent views of the coastline and learn a bit more about Irish culture and history. Program coordinators Meriah and Sarah offered students more information about the importance of Saint Patrick to the Irish people as well as the thousands of people that travel to Ireland to partake in the Camino.
We made the quick walk to the base of the mountain where we had a stunning view of the surrounding marshes and farms. We learned some fun facts about Saint Patrick, the importance of the three leaf clover, and even got to practice our Irish. Although we were unable to make the trek to the top (6 hours up and 6 hours back) many a student expressed an interest in returning to make the hike to the top of the mountain. So to all the families reading this, you may just have your next vacation planned out for you!
