City Excursions
J. R. R. Tolkien famously stated that "Not all those who wander are lost" in his novel The Fellowship of the Ring. As Tolkien's characters traveled to new places far and wide so to have our Global Navigators. With many being out of the country for the first time Dublin offers the opportunity for a "soft" entry into Europe as well as into the world of international travel. With a young population, some of the friendliest people that you will ever meet, and a bustling but walkable downtown area Dublin is the perfect first city to explore away from home.
Over the past few weeks, our students have had the opportunity to explore various sections of Dublin together. Whether it be for one hour or three hours they have seen some of the sites that help to make this city renowned: Leinster House, Grafton Street, and Croke Park to just name a few. They have had the chance to sample some Irish cuisine courtesy of some famous Dublin restaurants as well as discover the craze that exists behind a 99 on a hot summer day (soft serve with a Cadburry chocolate flake. No matter where they went they went with curiosity and with an open mind.
As we draw closer to the end of our time together in Dublin the Global Navigators will have more opportunities to explore the city (after the classwork is finished of course) and visit their favorite sites as well as explore some new ones also. Those last minutes souvenirs will be purchased and maybe some Cadburry chocolate will be made ready for the plane ride back. Stay tuned for more updates!
