Cadiz, Ginkanas, y Film Editing
Well Friends, it's hard to believe we've been here a whole week and the adventures are piling up. On Friday, students met up at Las Setas and learned about the power of sound. Carlos shared his wisdom in class that a movie is only as believable as the quality of ambient sound. They each created a "wild track" of Seville's birds and chatter to accompany their short films, then had coffee and tostadas at their favorite local cafe to compile their shots into a single, fluid film.
In the evening they paired up into two competative teams to explore the city via riddles. In addition to finding a store that exclusively sells "American" foods (Heinz Ketchup? I Can't Believe It's Not Butter?), we stumbled upon a wedding in the center of town and watched as their family celebrated with traditional Spanish flair. The hair was fabulous, the heels were high. Then we topped off the night with churros and hot chocolate. YUM.
On Saturday, we Cadized the day and explored the historical city by foot. We all got our heart rates up climbing one of the 100 famous towers, then cooled off in the refreshing Mediterranean sea. Everyone had the afternoon free to explore, shop, eat, and relax. When we got back, it was clear that Domingo was a well-earned day for sleeping in and gearing up for the upcoming week of activities.
