Business Lessons Beyond the Boardroom: CIEE Entrepreneurship Class Gets Hands-On with Humana
Aspiring business moguls of CIEE’s entrepreneurship program had their first taste of the real world today under the guidance of instructor Stephen Murray. Stepping away from traditional classroom lectures, Professor Murray plunged his students headfirst into the world of Global Entrepreneurship with a case study.
But the learning didn't stop there. Professor Murray challenged his students to think critically about Humana's success. They grappled with essential questions that every entrepreneur must face: What problem does Humana solve? What unique value proposition sets them apart from competitors? What are the costs associated with their model, and how do they generate revenue?
The afternoon offered a welcome change of pace, with students ditching balance sheets for grocery bags. Together, they ventured out for a real-world shopping experience, as they navigated aisles and budgets. The day culminated in a bit of a communal dinner, where students and program leaders bonded over a meal they had prepared themselves – a fitting end to a day that blurred the lines between classroom theory and practical application.
