Becoming a Chilean Student
"Of all the books in the world, the best stories are found between the pages of a passport."
Despite some setbacks in our arrival to Chile, our first full day in Valparaiso is one to remember for a lifetime. After learning about greetings and Chilean culture in their classes in the morning, students and CIEE staff set out to Playa Ancha to visit Liceo Maria Luisa Bombal, a public vocational high school, where we were welcomed by many students and staff. During our time there, we participated in many activities… a “fútbol” game against the students, a traditional Chilean game called “Gymkana”, and took a Zumba class held by one of the students! The students made new friends using what they learned in class and took selfies with them to share what they learned about their new friends with their host families!
