CIEE Security Alert - Thailand

Heightened security is likely at the Siam Paragon shopping mall in Bangkok through at least early Oct. 4 following an earlier security incident. Shots were reported at the site during the afternoon of Oct. 3. Shoppers evacuated the scene. At least three people were killed and five injured during the apparent attack. The police have arrested the suspected gunman. As of the early evening Oct. 3, BTS Skyway has reportedly closed its connections to Siam Paragon. Siam Paragon shopping mall is also reportedly closed.

CIEE is currently messaging all participants to confirm the status of their safety. At this time, we have no reports that any CIEE Thailand participants have been impacted by this incident.  As this is a developing situation, we will continue to monitor the situation closely and remain in contact with our participants to ensure their ongoing safety.
