CIEE Security Alert – Taiwan
Magnitude 7.4 earthquake strikes east of Taiwan at 07:58 April 3. Significant damage possible.
A severe magnitude-7.4 earthquake occurred 21 km (13 miles) south-southeast of Hualien City at 07:58 April 3. Significant damage and casualties are likely. The temblor has triggered a tsunami warning; hazardous waves are possible within 300 km (186 miles) of the epicenter. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) has issued a red (middle level on a three-tier scale) tsunami warning for Okinawa Prefecture.
