Turkey to Texas: A CIEE Student Arrival

HOUSTON – As Rengin Bakal stepped into the baggage claim area of George Bush Intercontinental Airport she was greeted with a“Welcome” sign and bouquet of flowers from her new American family.
Even though their first meeting was Wednesday morning, hugs and kisses were exchanged between Bakal, a 16-year-old exchange student from Turkey, and Michael and Missy Borne, of Conroe, and their 14-year-old daughter Randi Howard, with whom Bakal will spend the next 10 months.
