Overview
Go the distance in the field to discover sports marketing in London.

Home to Wimbledon and the English Premier League, there’s no better place to delve into the business side of sports than London Town. Through interactive classes, explore sponsorships, branding, fan engagement, and digital media spend. Team up with other Global Navigators to propose a marketing campaign for a fictitious local sporting event or club. Then, present it to industry professionals.

Get expert insights during behind-the-scenes tours of legendary venues, like Wembley and London Stadium. Analyze contemporary sports marketing strategies and the ways long-running sports organizations, like Oxford University Polo Club, tackle challenges. Consider the ethical and social implications of sports marketing, too.

When not on the field, hop on a double decker bus and tour the city’s world-famous landmarks, like the Tower of London, Big Ben, and Westminster Abbey. On excursions, travel to Oxford and cheer for the Old Blues RFC, one of the world’s oldest rugby clubs, as they play their historic Varsity match against Cambridge. London will open your eyes to the British sports industry and kickstart your future sports marketing career!

The Destination

Welcome to London, a city renowned for its history, multiculturalism, and deep-seated love of sport.

Cricket, soccer, rugby, or tennis, Londoners eat, breathe, and sleep sports. Every year, London buzzes with excitement, hosting epic events like the London Marathon, the FA Cup Final, and legendary Wimbledon. The city has also hosted three Olympics, the first in 1908, making it the world's most frequently chosen host city. And nothing rivals the English Premier League, the most-watched sports league in the world, where the country’s top football (soccer) clubs battle it out every season.

When not cheering for the home team, get a history lesson at the British Museum and the Natural History Museum. Snap photos of globally-recognized landmarks like Buckingham Palace, the Tower Bridge, and London Eye. Ride the London Underground and stop to stroll charming London neighborhoods, like the West End and Westminster. Raise your pinkies over afternoon tea and grab a street food snack at the Borough Market, where you can try flavors from all over the world along with local favorites, like fish and chips, bangers and mash, and Yorkshire pudding.

Cultural Awareness

CIEE wants all our students to feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to succeed while studying abroad. Local CIEE staff have provided details about conditions and cultural attitudes that students with specific identities might encounter in London.
