Your First Week in MONTEVERDE Student Post by Kyle Irwin
There is a LOT that happens during your first week at the CIEE Campus in Monteverde, Costa Rica. Here are a few things to expect in preparation.
Expect Changes in the Weather
- Up in the cloud forest, the weather is constantly changing. It is important to be prepared!! You should try to carry a raincoat/poncho on you at all times. Equally, it can also be bright and sunny, so make sure to always have water on you as well to stay hydrated.
Expect to Step Outside Your Comfort Zone
-An experience like this does not come very often. While it can be a little overwhelming at first, take all the time you need to fully immerse yourself in the program and Costa Rican life.
Expect to Meet People from Different Backgrounds
-During your program, you’ll have plenty of time to make a bunch of new friends, so get to know as many people as possible!
Expect to Have a Lot of Fun!
-There is a lot of preparation put into each day. You will be doing a lot of hiking and other physical activities. There is free time, but most of the day you will spend doing some interesting/educational activity with your group.
Expect Beautiful Scenery
- The Campus is far up in the cloud mountains. The lush vegetation is stunning and the same goes for the view!
