Our weekend started with a train ride to a magical city, Erfurt, where we took a tour of the beautiful city and, of course, put our feet in the river! We had a wonderful German dinner and sang Happy Birthday to the locals having a Birthday party.  The dinner place was Wirtshaus Christoffel, which had a medical vibe.  At night, after dinner and some tasty gelato for some, we headed back to the hostel to cheer on the German football team (soccer team). The next day, we were off to the Synagogue, the oldest in Europe (Alte Synagogue), and traveled the walls and grounds of a fortress (Zitadelle Petersburg Erfurt).  During our city tour, we explored places like the Merchant Bridge, walked the grounds of Martin Luthor, and learned about his transformation into a monk. We then had time to explore the beautiful city streets, with all the merchant shops and places to eat. Alas, all good things had to end, and we boarded the train back to Berlin. Monday brought to class a Creative Sustainable walking tour and, for others, a trip to the Futurium. I cannot forget to mention slime-making for the students in class and other fun activities, such as building buildings out of spaghetti.  On Tuesday, each group was headed in different directions. Some went to the Berlin Mall, which is, of course, a must-do in any city.  Others headed to a park and chocolate factory, and some tried Sushi for the first time.  Others headed to play volleyball, and it was all a very relaxing morning/ afternoon. The students are looking forward to the Berlin Mauer- Spurensuche Tour (interactive photography workshop about the Berlin Mauer (wall).  At the other end, a goodbye dinner at the restaurant TorEins, with shhh!! Surprise pictures taken throughout the trip with disposal cameras should be an exciting slide show.
