Top 3 Reasons to Be Part of the CIEE Global Ambassador Program

In this post, Maryjane shares her reasons why the CIEE Global Ambassador program is a great opportunity to stay connected with CIEE after a summer abroad program.
My life changed when I spent four weeks studying abroad in Rome, Italy while participating on the Italian Language & Culture program in summer 2023. My adventure to becoming a CIEE Global Ambassador and Global Navigator Intern started when I applied to contribute to CIEE’s social media as an influencer during my program.
Here are my top 3 reasons why you too should stay connected with CIEE after your summer abroad as a CIEE Global Ambassador.
1. It helps you get into colleges, get scholarships, and get jobs!
Whether you were part of the Summer Influencer program (also known as the Social Navigator program), a Global Ambassador, an intern, or all three, being a study abroad alum and having a connection with CIEE is something that stands out on applications!
I put all these things on my applications for college and scholarships. I also know when I move, I will need a job, and I will use it for that as well. Colleges want to see you taking advantage of every opportunity and doing as many extracurriculars as possible, and these experiences definitely highlight that.
It shows that you are passionate and hardworking.
2. You can earn cash
During my time working with CIEE, I have won hundreds of dollars and lots of CIEE swag. If you are anything like me, I am sure you are addicted to online shopping and find yourself searching for everything you need online. Every month, the CIEE Global Ambassador program holds contests to make posts, videos, blogs, etc.
When you win these contests, you can earn cash gift cards. (When I won one of the weekly social media contests during my high school summer abroad program, I got a $200 Amazon gift card!)
And let me tell you, as long as you compete in these contests that money will rack up fast and you can have enough to fund your online expenses.
3. Meet cool people and gain valuable professional experience
CIEE’s Global Ambassador program highlights students from all over the country, all who traveled to different places. I have also gotten to virtually meet most of CIEE’s marketing team, and they are all super cool!
I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to talk with all of them and hear about their jobs and what they do with CIEE. I have been able to form connections with the other CIEE Global Ambassadors that I work with, and the meetings always feel super personal and connected.
Having all these opportunities with CIEE has really opened my eyes to life outside of school and what I will end up doing after college. I would love to work on a marketing team similar to CIEE’s and I’m thrilled that they have allowed me to see that through this journey.
And all of this happened through the CIEE Global Ambassador program!
