!Despedida!
It's hard to believe, but our time in Pisac has come to an end and all are en route back home!
We had an amazing despedida, or goodbye celebration on Friday. The day started with students presenting their final projects in class. Teachers were blown away by the growth that has occurred in just 4 short weeks.
Our CIEE staff in Pisac had a few surprises up their sleeves for the afternoon. We piled in the vans and headed 20 minutes outside of Pisac to Coya and dined in Parwa, a local restaurant serving typical Cusqueño cuisine. It was a beautiful scene, and after lunch students had time to enjoy each other's company and make a card for their host family.
The real treat for students and families was in the evening. We were invited to a farewell party at the Study Center. It had been transformed by decorations and food and drink for all. There was plenty of time for sharing and photo-snapping, and of course dancing! We were lucky to have four typical Peruvian dancers join the party and show us some pointers.
This month has been quite the journey, but we are coming back with life-changing experiences that have helped us grow in ways we didn't know possible. Mil gracias a todos who helped make this program possible--parents, students, CIEE staff, and our beloved Pisac community!
