School Expectations:
An important part of your participant’s exploration of their host culture (and language, where applicable) will be immersing themselves into school life and studies. Schools look for a sincere effort from their exchange students. Participants should:
-
Be on time for all of their classes
-
Come prepared to class with all supplies needed for the day
-
Bring assignments that are due and respect deadlines. If your participant is experiencing any issues completing coursework, they should speak to their teacher, academic advisor, or local coordinator.
-
Respect all members of the class, including teachers, guest speakers and other students.
-
Be prepared for a school experience that may be very different then here in the U.S.
-
Understand that all participants must take a full course load for the entirety of their program
-
Be open to the fact that grading systems can look very different country to country and in some cases, participants should not expect to do as well as they do in school in the U.S.
-
Maintain a positive attitude
