Granada
Granada is a small, very popular Andalucian town in the south of Spain. Lucky me, this was one of the places I was able to visit with CIEE on my program, sadly, the Madrid students had to travel by bus for almost 5 hours (it was worth it!). Madrid students were the first to arrive so we went to check into our hostel where we were then met by the Sevilla students, it was so nice to see them again as it had been a little more than a month since we had been together during orientation. As I mentioned, Granada is somewhat of a small town, but it was still full of life probably fueled by the abundance of ice cream shops on each street. However, the main attraction that we visited was an old Muslim fortress named the Alhambra which means red city in Arabic. Placed strategically at the top of a giant hill it was somewhat of a climb to get there but the amazing views of all the city was definitely worth the climb. There are many buildings within the whole complex the majority of which we got to visit. In all of the buildings and even single rooms, amazing details were used to make the rooms look like something from a storybook. As well as the Generalife gardens which highlighted the fact that the Alhambra was also a palace and not only a fortress. This trip was an amazing adventure and I am looking forward to hopefully being able to explore more of Andalucia and its history.
