Blog 1 - New Setting

Dear Cameron,

During my free time today, I decided to travel down to downtown Berlin where I could hopefully see some new sights. The view was amazing, however, downtown Berlin remind me much of like any metropolitan city, sort of. The only difference is that I saw very few colored people, which is not usual for me. We went to go stop by this Italian restaurant and the whole process of ordering and waiting and getting your food was all the same. However payment was vastly different from what I’m used to  back at home. For one, they did not know how to split up the check amongst 10 people. I guess usually when people go into groups in this country one person pays only. Secondly, the waiter seemed to get quite annoyed at the fact that we were all using card despite us asking him prior to eating if they took card. Some of us decided to pay with cash, so if the meal was $4.50 and we were to hand him five dollars, he would slammed the change back onto the table. But he didn’t see himself as being rude, which I found to be quite odd. He also expected us to tip but not nearly as much as what people want back at home. The meal came out to be $120, but he was completely fine with a seven dollar tip. Afterwords we went back out into the metropolitan city and completed the transit home . In short everything seems to be the same except for the the demographics and manners.
