What Did You Gain From Your CIEE Program? 

In the spirit of career month, we're asking alumni what they gained from their CIEE program. Whether your answer is literal (a love of new food, a new tattoo) or more abstract (an open mind, a passion for intercultural exchange), we want to hear your answers. Celebrating 50 Years of Cultural Exchange: The History of CIEE in Japan

In 1965, CIEE opened an office in Tokyo, Japan. Throughout the years, we have collaborated with a number of well-known organizations - including the America-Japan Society of Tokyo, The International House of Japan, the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme (JET), and Sophia University - to promote intercultural exchange between the U.S. and Japan. This September, we're celebrating this milestone of U.S.-Japanese exchange with an alumni anniversary event in Tokyo on October 2nd, 2015. Read more about the history of CIEE in Japan. 

Alumni Events Around the World

Over half of the CIEE Alumni Local Chapters held events during the month of August. CIEE alumni gathered in Shanghai, Chicago, Istanbul, San Francisco, New York, and Washington, D.C., to connect and share experiences from their exchange programs. September 14-18 is CIEE Alumni Industry Networking Week!

Connect with CIEE alums around the world at this virtual event - all you need is a computer to participate. We've structured these events by industry, to give you the opportunity to connect with alums in your field. This is a great way to network with fellow alumni in your field of interest and learn about how others have leveraged their CIEE experience in their career.

Join us for one (or all) of the week's events: 

• Monday, September 14: Marketing, Advertising, Communications, and Design
• Tuesday, September 15: Entrepreneurship, Business, and Tourism/Hospitality
• Wednesday, September 16: International Development and Social Entrepreneurship/NGOs
• Thursday, September 17: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)
• Friday, September 18: Education Management, Higher Education, and Primary/Secondary Education

ALUM OF THE MONTH 

Sercan Uzumcu, Work & Travel USA 2012 

Sercan Uzumcu spent 4 months working in the United States through the Work & Travel program. We met with him at the CIEE Alumni Turkey Chapter event in August to discuss his experience with his program and his future plans.
