CIEE Expands Study Abroad for Engineering Majors - New Courses and Programs

As we announced last week, we’ve expanded CIEE’s STEM portfolio to provide engineering students the opportunity to study abroad in their location of choice and enroll in the courses that match their academic needs – from aerospace, biomedical and chemical engineering, to computer, industrial and mechanical engineering, and more!

Engineering students can find it challenging to btudy abroad because of difficulties finding the courses they need to stay on track for graduation. We’ve responded with three bold initiatives to break down curriculum barriers for engineering majors:

• CIEE Engineering, Technology + Sciences Programs – We created a flexible STEM-focused study abroad program in 31 locations!
• New Engineering Courses – We added over 100 high demand, higher-level courses in engineering, both in-person and online!
• New Host Institutions – We partnered with IQS Ramon Llull Barcelona, University of New York in Prague, University of Technology Sydney, University of Melbourne, University of Auckland, and other world-renowned universities to increase engineering options within our network of nearly 100 host institutions around the world. Plus, our partnership with Arizona State University provides students with hundreds of accredited online engineering courses, now available in every CIEE location!

New CIEE Engineering, Technology + Sciences Programs

• Students in the new CIEE Engineering, Technology + Sciences (CIEE ETS) program can immerse themselves in another culture while enrolling in: 
  1. Courses delivered in-person by faculty at leading international engineering schools,
  2. Courses delivered in-person by CIEE’s highly rated international faculty, and/or
  3. Courses delivered online by ASU and taught by the same faculty who teach the course on campus.
• CIEE ETS programs provide STEM-centered extracurriculars like company visits and guest speakers plus enriching curricular study abroad experiences like engineering-focused internships or real-world research projects.

New -- Online Engineering Courses from ASU

In addition to in-person courses offered by CIEE faculty and our host university partners, all CIEE students have access to ASU’s enormous catalog of fully accredited, online courses taught by the same faculty who teach in-person classes. This course option ensures every CIEE study abroad program can deliver one or more engineering courses.

For schools that allow online credit, students can choose from the hundreds of online engineering courses offered through ASU in electrical and software engineering, engineering management, industrial and systems engineering, material and sustainable engineering, mechanical engineering, and more. Sample courses include:
