American Serbia & Montenegro Youth Leadership Exchange

The A-SMYLE program was established in 2005 to reach out to youth and create stronger linkages between the United States and Serbia and Montenegro. This program offers scholarships to the students from Serbia and Montenegro aged 15-17 to study in a U.S. high school while living with an American host family. Participants learn about democracy as it is practiced in the United States and develop leadership skills that will help them lead the transformation of their country in the 21st century. Students are offered the opportunity to explore civic responsibility, community activism, democracy, and American society, as well as educate Americans about their country and culture.
