Seminar Fees
The following are included in CIEE seminar fees:
- Academic program (all lectures, site visits, study tours, and seminar materials)
- Accommodation in single rooms (unless informed in advance)
- Two meals daily (typically breakfast and lunch)
- Welcome and farewell receptions
- Transportation to included activities
- Entrance fees for included excursions
- On-site representative
- One CIEE airport pick-up/drop-off coordinated around the majority of arrivals and departures
- International medical insurance and 24 hour worldwide assistance provided through the iNext travel card
- Pre-departure support (including IFDS advisors, detailed online pre-departure information, and visa assistance)
Not included: the cost of a passport, international airfare, port of entry visa fees (if applicable), visas that vary from seminar group processing, most dinners, international departure taxes, excess baggage charges, porterage, tips, or any incidental expenses.
Payment
Participants and/or their sponsoring institutions will be invoiced for the full seminar fee upon acceptance.
Discounts
Applicants from CIEE Member Institutions
Applicants from CIEE and CIEE Academic Consortium member institutions are eligible for a reduced member fee as listed in the seminar description. A list of CIEE member institutions can be found here. Double-Occupancy Room
A discount of $200 (each) off the published seminar fee is extended to accepted seminar participants who travel together and share a room. Participants requesting the double room discount must indicate this preference and the name of their fellow participant/roommate when completing the IFDS online application. Individuals cannot receive the double-occupancy discount without a pre-determined participant/roommate.
IFDS Alumni
The application fee for all past IFDS participants is waived. Simply complete the appropriate section of the online application with the
country(ies) and year(s) of your previous seminars.
Ping Faculty Development Fellowships
Ping Faculty Development Fellowships provide assistance to faculty and administrators from CIEE or CIEE Academic Consortium member institutions, community colleges, or Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to participate on IFDS programs. Awards are in the amount of $1500 and are applied toward the applicant’s program fee.

Additional Funding
We strongly recommend that you inquire at your institution to determine if there is funding available on your campus. Faculty development funds are the most common source of funding that participants utilize. As a demonstration of commitment to faculty development, academic institutions are encouraged to provide at least 50% support toward the seminar and transportation costs of their faculty members. Historically, more than one-third of participants have received full funding from their home institutions; the vast majority received substantial financial assistance. This support has been instrumental in ensuring institutional commitment to follow-up initiatives.
